2011 first quarter PV inverter shipments fell 39%

IMS Research 's latest quarterly market report shows that in 2011 the first quarter of the global PV inverter shipments declined to 4GW, a 39% reduction compared to the previous quarter , but compared with the first quarter of 2010 , an increase of 31%. Germany , Italy and France and other market channel inventories increased first quarter results were disappointing result .

This report is based on 35 largest PV inverter supplier's actual sales and shipments data, including China 's largest manufacturers. Although the first quarter of each year for the PVinverter industry has always been relatively weak demand for the season , but 39% of shipments continued to decline last year is still far greater than the 17 % figure .

IMS Research 's PV Research Director Ash Sharma said: "The first quarter of 2011 to the inverter supplier is a difficult season . Inventory backlog at the end of 2010 began , with the large number of orders were canceled this season , inventories continued to rise . As of the first quarter of 2011 , shipments have declined for two consecutive quarters . "

From the end of 2010 , Germany began in the inverter market performance is poor, the first quarter of 2011 is also true . Survey from IMS Research began tracking quarterly shipments began , the Italian market to 1.2GW shipments in the first quarter of 2011 for the first time exceeded that of Germany . And because the first quarter of 2011 the Italian tariff policy review triggered by uncertainty , making the financing of PV projects stop , the market stagnated , these inverters are likely to become a full inventory

Sharma said: "The installation of photovoltaic projects will enjoy the previous Conto Energia feed-in tariff under the Act , so even though this season the Italian market with great uncertainty , the inverter with charger demand remains strong ." Germany in the inverter device market share decline in the supplier who is also a great degree of manifestation of many German suppliers in the global market share is continuing to decline.

Market leader SMA Solar Technology AG 's quarterly decline in performance . The U.S. suppliers such as Satcon and Advanced Energy less affected by the European market , continued to perform eye-catching. Since the entire supply chain for several GW backlog of inventory , IMS Research forecasts Q2 2011 inverter slow growth in demand . European demand is weak enough to quickly absorb the inventory.
